Each year since the crash of the real estate market (really the whole economy) so many Americans have struggled and fought to keep their heads above water. As Realtors, Tony and I certainly felt the impact of the markets in 2008, which is when I believe most small businesses did as well. It was a time to sink or swim. We dug our heels in and decided we were going to make it and if not, we were going to go down swinging! Agents were dropping out of the business left and right, straight commission isn’t an easy path. For us, it was both of our incomes so just a bit scarier to say the least. We are grateful to say we have grown our business every single year since and each year since 2010 we have hit a new best year ever in our real estate careers!
Growth is a huge driver for us. I believe if we are not growing we are dying. So every year the business plan is to get to the next level. If it wasn’t I am not sure what kind of an entrepreneur I would be. Though the challenge of growth fuels me it’s not about getting a bigger house or having more things. We certainly like nice things but Tony and I feel like especially this year we really have all we need. We live in a nice but modest 1800 square foot home, drive nice cars and have wonderful kids, family and friends. We face challenges like everyone else but such is life. Tony and I talk constantly and I mean constantly about how we can pay it forward. We are so grateful for where we are right now we feel called to do even more for others in need.
If you know me you know that I am not a perpetual thinker, I am a doer. It is our mission to help the bullied, abused and defeated understand that a person, an event or even a series of events do not have to define their whole lives. They are worthy and capable to live the life they want and deserve. Oprah Winfrey said, “Surround yourself with those who are going to lift you higher. Life is already filled with those who want to bring you down.”
Tony and I want to thank each and every one of you who have supported us. We are certainly imperfect but we are grateful beyond words and will continue to pay it forward as much and as big as you can all help us dream it. We wish you the happiest of holidays and a wonderful new year!
