Local Independent vs. National Brand

I interviewed to sell a home in a beautiful golf course community. The home was just as beautiful and immaculately cared for. These owners interviewed a more prominent agent in the area and then me because his neighbor had used me to sell their last home. It was an independent vs. the big box brokerage.

I approached this interview like I do every one. I came prepared with the data we needed to make a fair assessment of the home’s value, outlined the services we offer and answer all the sellers questions. During the interview the owner flat out asked me why should I choose you? What makes you better than (insert big box name here)? I said “I have to be better because I don’t have a big brand to lean on.” I can’t slide on my credibility and knowledge from our national marketing campaign because there isn’t one.

I was ecstatic that they hired me!

They needed some carpet, paint and ideally at their price point matching stainless steel appliances. They listened to every piece of staging advice we gave them. Their home sold in 17 days at 98.5% of list price. When I talked to them the night before closing they said “Anything we can ever do to help your business continue to be a success we want to help you”. Tony and I are so grateful that no words could possibly convey how much!

Our office isn’t a national brand but Wheatland Realty is exactly what it claims Local. Different. Better.
